Tottenham: Who’s IN and Who’s OUT this summer?

Busy summer for Totters

Real Madrid are the sort of side that can afford to buy a £30 million player and then leave him on the bench.

Tottenham, however, don’t really have that luxury. If they invest £30m on one guy he needs to be integral to the team straight away.

Which makes the signing of Eric Lamela one of the more bizarre in recent Tottenham history.

He looked like a sensation when playing in Italy but obviously hasn’t dealt well, so far, with the demands of a gruelling Premier League.

He’s just one of a number of players you could well leave Tottenham this summer.

Let’s have a look at some potential ins and outs:

OUTS?

Gomes – Are you still here mate?

Lamela – Surely he’s gone?

Capoue – Bright start but faded with injury.

Soldado – Has he done enough?

Sandro – Interest from elsewhere but Tottenham may look to keep him.

Vertonghen – May be tempted if big foreign clubs come in.

Paulinho
– Hasn’t showered himself in glory.

Adebayor – Settled but noone quite knows what will happen with him from year to year.

Chadli – We’d give him another year.

INS?

Juan Guillermo Cuadrado – The Fiorentina winger is wanted by many but Tottenham are reportedly keen.

Yann M’Vila – Silky and composed box to box man who would do what Paulinho was supposed to.

Ezequiel Garay – Tottenham are reportedly keen to sign Garay – Man U also reportedly interested.

Romelu Lukaku – Tottenham still need a real character up front. Lukaku could be the answer.

All overseas players, especially young ones, deserve a year to settle in before being judged. Pundits described a certain player as running fast, doing pointless step-overs and then falling over, with zero end-product. His name? Cristiano Ronaldo. The number of times great players have been judged way too harshly, way too soon, should caution anyone and everyone from opening their mouth too soon. But, no, they still keep on dong it.

Only one of the seven players that Spurs bought in last summer was even over 25 YO at time of signing. And one year to settle in means one year, it doesn’t mean one year divided seven! On top of which, they have had to cope with managerial change and injury. So, no, take all of the new players off, as it is ludicrous knee-jerking to suggest getting rid of any of them.

    Other teams want Sandro? Tough.

Adebayor might go, but there are all types of complications associated with Citeh no longer paying part of his wage – and, when he is on form he is one of the most effective forwards in the country. Hard to call.

Vertonghen shouldn’t be on the list – but his attitude has not looked great recently.

There are names that should be on the list but aren’t – let’s just say most of them are English, and the first out of the hat is Dawson.

Gomes is the only 1 on the list I agree with, the rest you have to give more than 1 season. Hopefully someone like Van Gaal comes in and gels them all together. Dawson should be on the list too but Rose has to be first on the list. He is completely rubbish and a total liability EVERY game he plays. After that you can add Naughton and Chricihes. I know he has only been at WWL for 1 season too but that is 1 to many. Should never have been bought
