Tottenham may face a renewed battle to keep hold of their prize assets this summer, with Hugo Lloris the latest key player being linked with a move away.

The Mirror report that the club captain and goalkeeper is a target for Real Madrid as they contemplate whether to replace Keylor Navas.

It’s worth noting that both stoppers are in fact the same age, which could count against the Frenchman. Zinedine Zidane is more likely to opt for a younger option, such as David de Gea (27) or Thibaut Courtois (25).

Nevertheless, Los Blancos are optimistic Lloris could be interested in joining ex-Spurs stars Luka Modric and Gareth Bale at the Bernabeu if the Lilywhites once again fail to win silverware.

It’s quite possible that he caught the eye during the 1-1 draw in the Spanish capital in the Champions League group stages, when he made one of the saves of the season from a Karim Benzema header.

He has openly voiced his frustration in the past with Spurs unable to pick up a trophy since 2008.

At a price of just £25million, he would be considerably cheaper than the other Premier League ‘keepers being considered.

Zidane is under pressure to turn things around with his side having finished as runners-up in Group H and sitting fourth in La Liga, eight points behind Barcelona.
