This one has been dragging on for some time and it is beginning to feel like an inevitable long goodbye for Manchester United striker Robin van Persie.
The Daily Star reports this weekend that the Dutch striker, who has spent three seasons at Manchester United, has agreed terms on a move to Lazio this summer.
Manchester United striker Robin van Persie AGREES £10m Lazio move on four-year deal
Van Persie’s standing in the team has come under serious scrutiny as he lost his place through injury and then struggled to get back in the team. Louis van Gaal’s system of 4-3-3 only allows for one striker and Wayne Rooney, his captain, looks likely to fill it for the forseeble future. With reports that Manchester United are interested in other strikers too this summer, the future looks increasingly bleak for Van Persie at Manchester United.
FINAL WORD: Although RvP would be a magnificent back up striker for any top squad with ambitions of titles, the player would probably be unhappy to spend the season on the bench and wants one last hurrah at the age of 31 (32 by the start of next season). So we think he will move from Manchester United this summer.
