Sky Sports reports this afternoon that Tottenham are among a clutch of clubs who want to sign West Bromwich Albion striker Saido Berahino.

The forward has ostensibly been on the way out of WBA since last summer but a January deal looks a likely prospect given the reported interest of these 4:

Tottenham, Newcastle, Chelsea and Stoke City are seriously interested in signing striker Saido Berahino, according to Sky sources.

We can’t imagine why more clubs aren’t after this guy. A 22 he’s already a super player and one who will surely get even better under the right tutelage.

Tottenham aren’t short of forwards and new signing Son Heung-min underlined his class against Leicester City in the FA Cup 3rd round replay in midweek.

But they don’t have much in the way of number 9s, beyond the brilliant Harry Kane. Kane is a wonderful athlete but, having played 29 games for Tottenham already this season, there will surely come a time soon when he needs a break.

Berahino can do that job well but we feel that, ultimately, the best XI will include both. And that is the beauty of the 22-year-old – he can operate in a number of positions across the front line. Berahino is a great finisher but also quick enough to play wide to good effect.

And Berahino knows where the goal is – he has 10 in 11 appearances for England U21s and scored 20 in 45 games for WBA last campaign.

Tottenham fans: is Berahino worth a nibble?

Look. This is running the same way as Damiao and others who we were supposedly looking at for years. West Brom don’t want to sell to us anyway! They’d rather sell to Newcastle at a reduced price. But in addition to that, I’m not sure that we want him now. Berahino sounds a bit spoilt, whereas Poch has built a unified squad (or at least it looks that way) that is pulling as a group in the same direction, whether individuals are playing regularly or not. Berahino, a bit like Berbatov (who’d be a disaster in this squad today), is undoubtedly talented and the type of player we need. But is he the sort of individual personality that we need? Ready to sacrifice all for the cause? Probably not. We should look elsewhere and spend that £20m to £30m on one or two players who can slot in well and yield to Poch’s philosophy. They don’t even have to be necessarily young …just ready to fight their socks off for THFC.

i have seen far to many comments intimating Berahino will upset the apple cart re team chemistry.Remember he did everything in his power toeffect a dearture from WBA and saw his efforts frustrated BY Mr. L’s reticense in parting with a considerablechunk of change absent protectivr provisions to assure Tottenhamm acquired a productive player for that price not a spoilt brat. That being sais Barihino has shown his commitmrent to the LilyWhites and because of his familiarity with Harry and ourr other under 21 National players will be as snug as a bug in the Tottenham rug. The only question that matters is does Pochettino believe in abilities of Barihino-I think if we acquire him we can expect a season toremember -Audere Facere” is within the Club’s grasp-what a way to enter into our exodus from the Lane-Give this Squad the opportunity to do what no other Spurs team has done in over 50 years- God bless them and any one else who puts on the shirt -do us proud lads

I’d say we won’t get Berahino unless WBA sell for less than the 20m plus we were talking last year.
With Clinton Ngie looking off the pace and currently injured I’d like to see him, we do need another striker for the squad but Poch has it under control. Need to keep improving over the next months, the title is not out of the question yet. COYS

    Nicely said Tony Nimmo
Bera did what he could to join Spurs.he even put in a transfer letter..what more could one ask from him..!
As a consequence he IS Now affected n not morivated to play.
    Pulis knows that
Bera will play well again..when he joins Spurs.
    Kane n Poch knows him.
Get him this time..a 2nd striker has to come now..who can play with Kane..as well as when Kane needs a break.

What’s wrong with you people questioning berahino’s attitude because he wants to leave and come to Spurs and is trying to push that through. You think that’s a reason we shouldn’t sign him? You’re deeply confused. We should definitely sign berahino
