PICTURE: Tottenham’s Best XI vs Leicester with changes out wide

More pace needed

Tottenham have had an unspectacular start to their Premier League season and Spurs fans will expect more investment before the summer is out.

But the players at Mauricio Pochettino’s disposal should have expected to get more than one point from their opening two games and the two goal surrender on Saturday was a concern.

We think that Tottenham were obviously a bit careless in defence but that they should have killed the game off earlier.

Tottenham have no injuries to speak of so they should be experimenting with their squad right now.

And on the flanks we think that some fresh impetus is required.

Tottenham have always liked attacking full backs and, in DeAndre Yedlin and Danny Rose they have two very exciting ones.

Let’s get them into the mix and see how they can change the attacking dynamic.

Because Tottenham have a solid central defensive pairing with Vertonghen and Alderweireld and so they can afford to be more adventurous on the flanks.

So we are going for that jet-heeled pair along with some solidity in midfield with Nabil Bentaleb and Moussa Dembele.

Here is our XI for another tricky away encounter against an in form Leicester. We feel that Tottenham need to take the game to their opponents and these changes may offer more threat down the flanks.

Tottenham fans: let’s have your XIs

I doubt very much that Yedlin will get a look in, more likely Trippier on the right if not Walker. Also doubt Lamela will start. It’s more likely to be Dembele on the right or even Njie if he’s eligible. Tough game against in-form Leicester but they surely can’t win their first three games of the season – can they? COYS!

Come on you know what the line up will be
    Lloris,
Walker( even though he is getting worse) Alderweireld, Vertongen, Davis
DM: Bentaleb( giving the ball away more often than not) DM: Dier
RW: Dembele ( because he’s a right winger) CM:Chadli because he’s a left winger) LW:Eriksen( because he’s best in the middle)
    CF: Kane

Remeber no pace and always pass back to the player who just passed you the ball

    Is this article a joke?

Lamela and Bentaleb in the team. Hilarious.

I thought it may be April Fools Day.

A prime example of why people who know nothing about Spurs shouldn’t write about Spurs.

Think I’d rather see N’jie wide on the right instead of Lamela whose days are probably numbered as a Spurs player.

How anyone would chose Lamela under any circumstance is beyond me. He’s awful, I’d rather have Vorm play over him. Seriously though, no way Yedlin starts over Trippier, who should’ve started the season on the right. Walker is a total liability. Alli deserves a go ahead of Dembele to spread the midfield out a bit ahead of the back four.

    Kane
    Chadli Eriksen Njie

    Bentaleb Alli
    Rose Vertonghen Alderweireld Trippier

    Lloris

Yedlin has NO chance of playing. Walker is first choice RB with Trippier as back up. Rose will play if fit, but if still injured then Davies will play at LB. Dier will play as DCM, NOT Bentaleb. Mason will play in CM. Dembele will play as attacking RM, NOT Lamela, unless Pochettino starts with N’jie (has his work permit been issued?). The writer is obviously not a Spurs fan because he doesn’t have a clue!!

Makes me want to bang Levy’s head with Mp’s, how can we sign 4 new players but only one is in our best 11, what’s the point in signing players? I stupidly thought it was to make your team better.

    Lloris

    Trippier. Al. Ver. Rose

    Dembele. Benteleb

    Lennon. Erikson. Mason

    Kane

Lennon works back and experienced in prem (proven rather than unproven – we can let prichard and Njie bed in) dembele always in good positions, benteleb protects,
Rose and tripper good at getting forward
    And good at crossing.

Mason runs all day and would put pressure on back line (which we miss)

Striker sub is what we need

Why would you drop Dier who scored and played well to bring in Bentaleb who is a liability with his passing? Walker has started the season well and Mason had a decent game against Stoke. Ludicrous to pick Lamela who is not suited to our league and personally I would go with Townsend and have our new signing Nje on the bench. I don’t think Davies has done much wrong while Rose flatters to deceive. For all the possession he receives, how often is he accurate with his final ball plus he is rash defensively when put under pressure.

Why drop Dier who scored against Stoke and has done a decent job for Bentaleb who is a liability with his passing? Walker has had a decent start to the season despite the own goal so I would keep him in the team along with Davies who hasn’t done much wrong. Yes Rose offers more going forward but rarely does he provide decent crosses for all the opportunities he has. Pamela is not suited to our league and Townsend would be my choice with Mason also in the heart of midfield. Nje would be on the bench to come on late in the game if needed.

I’d go with Dembele on the left Bentaleb & Mason in the middle N’Jie on the right the rest is ok We’ve seen the best of Walker, give young blood a go at right back.

    Kane
    Chadli, Eriksen, N’Jie
    Mason, Dier
    Rose, Alderwereld,Vertonghen, Trippier
    Lloris

I am frankly puzzled with their transfer policy as well. I thought Trippier was brought in to improve the right back position since Walker had a poor season. Similarly, I also thought that Davies was brought in to improve the left back position. In the end, there were no changes to the team lineup. Not sure how you are going to improve if you bring in backups for players who are not good enough in the starting eleven. Luckily Rose improved but was it a gamble?
