Many of the Old Trafford faithful are hoping for a swift resolution to the David de Gea debacle.
But with just three weeks to go until the window closes, the future of the Spanish international is as clear as mud.
But, in more positive news for the club, young Manchester United keeper Joel Pereira has signed a new deal which will extend his stay.
The 19 year old has been a regular in the under youth sides at Manchester United and he will hope that the potential departure of De Gea sill send him further up the pecking order.
He is quoted in The Daily Mail as saying:
‘Happy to extend my contract with Manchester United.’ Pereira wrote. ‘Let’s work harder than ever.’
And there is a very real opportunity that Pereira will be included in some first team squads this season.
We think that De Gea will leave Manchester United and the future of Anders Lindegaard also remains very unclear.
This leaves Sergio Romero who, despite 62 caps for Argentina, has yet to prove himself as a top Premier League keeper, and the relatively untested Sam Jonhstone.
Despite the real promise of Johnstone he looked a bit shaky when giving the chance to impress for Manchester United on their pre-season tour of America.
So perhaps this could be a really big season for the lad.
