Tottenham have been fairly quiet in the market so far under the watch of Mauricio Pochettino. But this summer has seen constant speculation about the potential addition of various forwards to strengthen that area of the side.
Of all the rumours, the best has to be the current one circulating about Tottenham wanting Christian Benteke.
The Mirror states:
Tottenham up Christian Benteke chase with Emmanuel Adebayor touted as bait
Spurs are challenging Liverpool for the signature of Aston Villa’s Belgian striker.
Buying Benteke and getting rid of Adebayor at the same time? Happy Days!
Benteke has been linked with several top clubs this summer and there seem to be some doubts, among our readers, as to the quality of the lad.
But we have no doubts at all. In fact, if they signed him, Tottenham’s only problem would be keeping him out of the clutches of elite sides in a couple of years.
Because, at 24, this guy is ready to light up The Premier League with a big side. He’s got every thing he needs to be a perfect EPL No.9. He’s strong as an ox and has good pace when he stretches his legs. But he also has a lovely first and mixes technique and power with great success.
He has hit 49 in 99 games for a struggling Aston Villa team and we think he’d be a superb addition to the Tottenham side. Quite how well he and Kane would work together remains to be seen but both demand a start. So, if he does join the club, expect two up top next season.
Let’s see him in action. Tottenham fans: worth the cash?
