This is an interesting one. We feel that Tottenham could use some extra pace in their side – it’s an ever more vital commodity in the English game – particularly in the wide areas.

And solid reports today suggest that Tottenham are about to take a flyer on something of a thrilling enigma.

The Times says:

Tottenham Hotspur opened talks to sign Victor Moses last night after the winger indicated that he was unsure about a return to Stoke City, where he played on loan last season.

Having played for Chelsea, Moses is clearly seen as having great potential. But, at 24, he still hasn’t added consistency to his myriad qualities.

But we have always liked him and if his virtues can be harnessed he could yet turn out to be a top Premier League talent. Certainly time is on his side and he has commensurate skill with virtually any player in the league.

Even if his best can’t be consistently cajoled out of him he will offer pace and power to the Tottenham team, at least in cameo roles, when the opposition is tiring.

He’s a talented, powerful and pacy footballer and we think that he is well worth a punt from Tottenham. He’s got good Premier League experience with Liverpool, Chelsea, Stoke and Wigan and has also played 24 times for Nigeria and scored an impressive 7 goals.

Let’s take a look at the mercurial winger in action. Tottenham fans: a master stroke from Mauricio or does his track record prove that he won’t ever produce on a consistent basis at the top level?
