Manchester United are keeping their cards close to their chest with regards summer transfers but it’s easy to imagine that they will start next season with one or two extra midfielders.
Morgan Schneiderlin has been strongly linked, with reports of over the weekend suggesting that a fee has been agreed for the Frenchman.
But they may look to add even more depth to the engine room, after long standing calls for a return to the sort of quality that we saw when Keane and Scholes were in their pomp.
L’Equipe has reported that Manchester United are battling Chelsea for the services of the wonderful young talent Adama Traore.
Traore was named as the player of the tournament in the recent U20 World Cup as Mali finished third. He’s one of these rare footballers who looks as if he could develop into a complete midfielder in the same way that Paul Pogba has.
He can sit in front of the defence and shield his back five. He gets from box to box and also has lovely feet and good shooting ability. He is very mature for his age and could be a wonderful long-term project for Manchester United.
Of course you never know for sure how young players will develop but, at 20, Traore is more than just a waif-like teenager. He’s already a man who could play a significant part in Manchester United’s squad next season.
Let’s have a brief look the prodigy in action, smashing in an unstoppable drive in the U20 World Cup. Manchester United fans: worth a punt?
