Move on?

This one seems as if it’s going to drag on for a while. All the Manchester United transfer type this week has surrounded the situation of Sergio Ramos at Real Madrid.

With the star seeming increasingly likely to want a move away from the Spanish giant, Manchester United are said to have wasted no time in making an opening bid for the 29 year old international.

The Independent states:

Sergio Ramos to Manchester United: Red Devils make £30m (€42.2m) opening bid for unsettled Real Madrid defender

Ramos - a waste of money

Ramos – a lot of money

The report says that Madrid see his value as closer to £46m (€64.4m) but that United aren’t prepared to pay that for a player of 29.

And therein lies the problem. Do Manchester United really want to spend so much money on a player whose decline could start at any time? With sports technology better than ever, some players can perform at the top level into their mid-thirties.

But there is also a feeling among many Manchester United fans that this represents a poor value deal for a player who may well have played his best football and who’s priority may be to move away from Madrid rather than to move to United.

Ramos has won 128 caps for Spain and been at Madrid for nearly a decade, where he has played 445 times and scored 55 goals.

Manchester United fans: would Ramos to United represent a great deal or is it a waste of money?

The price seems a bit steep but we need a new “Vidic”, I’m quite sure he aint no Mangala either! He could be the new “General” for united at the back & Jones & Smalling cud learn loads! Bring back the fear factor …
