Manchester United star Robin van Persie has told reporters that he is considering his future at the club as he was spotted out and about in Rome on Sunday.
The striker has been linked with a move away from the club this summer – with Italy and Juventus a possible destination – and he has admitted for the first time that his playing time may be limited if he stays at Manchester United next season.
The prolific marksman is quote as saying in The Daily Mail:
‘I must evaluate the situation,’ said the Holland captain. ‘The club (Manchester United) is doing that as well. I must consider what I really want. If worse comes to the worst and I won’t be playing much next season I wouldn’t be in an ideal situation with Euro 2016 coming up.’
Van Persie hit 30 goals for Manchester United in his first season at the club and won The Premier League title at the first attempt. But his form has dipped in the following two seasons – not helped by the changes in management.
He did play very well under Louis van Gaal at The World Cup in Brazil 2014, leading to suggestions that he would hit it off with the new Manchester United boss at club level. But it just hasn’t worked and a move looks very likely at this point.
