Manchester United’s revolving doors continue under Louis van Gaal with confirmation this afternoon that young midfielder Joe Rothwell has agreed a loan deal which will run until the end of this season.

Rothwell will team up with Blackpool who are currently struggling in The Championship. Their manager Lee Clark confirmed the move:

“Joe is someone we’ve been monitoring for a while and I’m pleased that a deal has been agreed,” he said.

“He’s very highly regarded at Old Trafford and I’m looking forward to working with him.”

And the Manchester United website also confirmed the move:

Manchester United youngster Joe Rothwell will join Championship side Blackpool for the rest of the season after the two clubs agreed a loan deal.

Rothwell has been at Manchester United since he was 6 years of age and is indeed very well thought of within the walls of the great club. While the youth academy regularly churns out good pros who go on to careers at other clubs, there is a big expectation that Rothwell will be one of the few to make the grade at Manchester United.

He’s an energetic midfielder with good good passing ability and an eye for goal. We should see him blossom at Blackpool despite their current troubles.

Here he is scoring an absolute belter against Blackburn earlier this season in a five nil romp for Manchester United.

Manchester United fans: do you think that this lad can do a Beckham and come back from his loan spell ready for first team action?
