Louis van Gaal has given Manchester United fans, who are hoping for further investment in the January transfer window, what could arguably be described as tentative encouragement about more signings this winter.
While refusing to give any specific details about more activity he said in his weekly press conference:
‘We were very quickly (sic) to buy Victor Valdes.’
‘So we deal quickly. When we can we deal quickly.’
Manchester United’s biggest problem right now is not a lack of resources but a lack of averrable resources. The injury list has been chromic for most of the season and Manchester United fans will hope, above all, that they can get something approaching a clean bill of health for the business end of the season.
Manchester United are on course for their main target of the season – Champions League qualification – but they still retain slender hopes of applying some pressure to the leading pack of Chelsea and Manchester City, as both have European commitments ahead and will surely drop points as their own resources are stretch in the spring.
Louis van Gaal also said that he felt confident that new signing Victor Valdes was back to full fitness after a harrowing period out with a knee injury.
Let’s see some Valdes magic. Manchester United fans: can Vicotr take the number one spot off the magnificent David de Gea?
