Tottenham fans’ hearts will be warmed by the news that their highly popular ex-marksman, Jermaine Defoe, has trained with the club to keep himself fit. The Daily Mail reports:
Tottenham have announced that Jermain Defoe will link up with the club to train and maintain his fitness as a return to the Premier League remains a possibility.
We think that it would be rude not to re-sign him until the end for he season. Defoe scored 90 times in 274 games for Tottenham. While his all round game was questioned at times, he always knew where the goal was.
And he scored 11 in first 16 games for Toronto after joining them in January so he’s still sharp and only 32.
If we held the purse strings at Tottenham we would attempt to offload Adebayor and Soldado in January, bring in Said Berahino and Jermiane Defoe – the latter as a back up in case the youngster struggles to adapt.
With Harry Kane on fire, Tottenham would have a new look forward line and would have separated the wheat from the chaff at last.
