Tottenham only interested in permanent transfer of South American – report

Unsettled

Tottenham’s signings last summer, made with the proceeds of the Gareth Bale transfer, were the subject of much scrutiny.

Christian Eriksen has been superb and is possibly worth triple the £11.5m paid in today’s market.

We like Nacer Chadli and Erik Lamela is starting to show some glimpses of genius.

But the jury remains well and truly on holiday with regards Roberto Soldado, Etienne Capoue and Vlad Chiriches.

Possibly the biggest waste of money was the £17m which Tottenham counted out for Corinthians midfielder Paulinho.

Be it homesickness, lack of suitability to The Premier League or just a general lack of quality, he just hasn’t done the business in Tottenham’s midfield, looking slow, ponderous and regularly anonymous.

Tottenham will surely now be keen to recoup as much of their cash as possible for the lad.

Latest reports suggest that they are looking to offload him but won’t accept a loan deal. The Daily Express reports:

TOTTENHAM flop Paulinho can only leave the club if it is on a permanent basis as chairman Daniel Levy refuses to let the Brazilian head out on loan.

The source says that Inter have had a £10m bid rejected. But we think that Tottenham should be biting the hand off the Italians for that kind of money.

Let’s see the Brazilian in acton for Tottenham. Spurs fans: is it just a matter of time before he makes his mark or is £10m a blessing for player who has been hopeless in London?
