Even the stars of great teams sometimes struggle to live up to expectations on the biggest stages, when all eyes are on them.
So when a player stands out of the crowd with an average team, at best, behind him you have to take notice.
And that appears to be the case with Tottenham and Xherdan Shaqiri, if latest reports are to be believed.
The Star states:
Bayern Munich EXPECT to sell Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham target Xherdan Shaqiri
BAYERN MUNICH are expecting to receive a January bid for Xherdan Shaqiri, with Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham among those interested.
With Chelsea and Liverpool also linked it’s not going to be a straightforward transfer for Tottenham. But, after a year and a half on the periphery at Bayern Munchen, the last thing the Swiss will want is more time on the bench.
There is no guarantee of footy at Chelsea currently. But Tottenham may be able to offer just that.
We would certainly find a place for him in the Spurs starting line up, either up top, in the hole or on the wing. Shaqiri would bring explosive pace, great ball control, a sweet left foot and serious firepower to the attack, wherever he played.
At 23 this lad wants and deserves game time. He would be an absolute revelation in England with his strength and dribbling ability. Tottenham should make an emphatic move as soon as possible.
Tottenham fans: similarly impressed with Shaqiri?
