On Fire

Harry Kane is on fire right now but Tottenham need striking reinforcements at any rate. Adebayor and Soldado both look as if new challenges would benefit all parties and Tottenham need a pool of strikers that can compete with the big boys over the next few years.

And speculation persists that Spurs will make a January move for Teo Gutierrez of River Plate.

New reports state that Tottenham sent scouts to see the lad in action for Colombia.

Tottenham scouts flew to Argentina last week to check out Colombia’s World Cup striker Teo Gutierrez.

The River Plate star failed to find the net against Velez, but his sparkling form for the table-toppers still caught the eye.

At 29 he may be a bit of a gamble. He doesn’t have much in Europe at club level, save for a short spell at Trabzonspor in Turkey. But Colombian footballers tend to travel well and this guy look swell worth a punt.

He’s quick, tenacious, clever and score goals – 17 in 38 league games for River Plate this season and 14 in 34 for his national team – he’s a a late bloomer who looks to be in his absolute prime.

At a mooted fee of £5m he looks worth a punt. Let’s see him in action. Tottenham fans: a decent addition?
