Manchester United transfers: A very good chance of this signing happening?

Solid

We think that it’s too easy to put Manchester United’s current problems all down to dodgy defending. Obviously it was idiotic of Smalling to dive in just minutes after getting a yellow in the derby – it was a fatal rush of blood to the head which cost United any chance of victory.

But most of the current problems for United are due to their injury list rather than the quality of the players. Rojo is improving every week and can become a quality centre back. Readers of this site know that we are big fans of Rafael and Luke Shaw. And we still believe in Phil Jones.

But Shaw, Rojo, Jones and Rafa have only lined up together once this season.

But the old master, Fergie himself, always said that success was based on a settled back 5 and Manchester United just haven’t had it.

Nevertheless there will be intense speculation between now and February about which defenders United will sign this winter. Ron Vlaar is a name that has been mentioned more than once in relation to United and the rumour mills have churned this one out again today:

Manchester United plot cut price January move for Aston Villa defender Ron Vlaar

Vlaar is out of contract next summer and that is why United may get him cheap.

One of the things we love about Van Gaal is that he only buys players that he really likes rather than bringing in short term solutions for problem areas. Vlaar is somewhere between both categories. He’s had a fantastic year but be isn’t necessarily in the very top bracket of European defenders and he’s not that quick.

Nevertheless he has Premier League experience and he may fit the bill for Louis. We give this one a decent chance of happening.

Let’s see him in action. United fans: good enough?

I would have loved to see my club excel, with the likes of di maria, wayne Rooney, mata, herrera, van persie, falcao and fellaini. But I still need that defence to be strong so I huge my Coach Louis Van Gaal to please sign Matt Hummels From. Germany.
