With Louis van Gaal supposedly pooh-poohing many of Manchester United’s previous transfer targets something of a vacuum has been created as to who will come in this summer.
You can’t imagine that the new Manchester United manager will be personally conducting too much transfer business during the World Cup but reports suggest that the Dutchman has given Manchester United a list of targets that he would like to pursue. And we may well see a youthful edge to the van Gaal revolution.
The latest to be linked to Manchester United is PSG midfielder Adrien Rabiot. The Mail says:
Manchester United are checking on Paris St Germain midfielder Adrien Rabiot.
The 19-year-old is interested in leaving Paris as he is keen to play more games.
Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City have all monitored his progress in recent months but United have also added him to their list of potential summer signings.
The 19 year old central midfielder played 27 games and scored 3 goals for his club last season. But such is his drive and ambition that, even at the tender age of 19, he doesn’t feel that’s enough and may seek a move in order to command more game time. The fact that PSG can’t even squeeze £20m recruit Yohan Cabaye into their midfield tells you how strong the competition is at the Paris club.
Rabiot doesn’t score many goals but he has super mobility and athleticism and reads the game well for one so young. He would probably be asked to fill the Michael Carrick role at Old Trafford.
Let’s take a look at the lad in action. Manchester United fans: do you fancy this guy or should the club be signing more established players this summer?
