Tottenham want two flying machines – reports

Wonderkid linked to Tottenham

It’s all a bit up in the air with Tottenham at the moment isn’t it? Tim Sherwood seems to have turned Tottenham into a winning machine which grinds out results at the current expense of aesthetic beauty.

But, despite his sterling work, Louis van Gaal has put the cat amongst the pigeons by saying:

“I am mostly interested in England because I have been a coach in Spain, Germany, in the Netherlands so I think England is the next step in my career,” he said.

“It could be another club [other than Spurs], it depends on the vacancies because Spurs were already [in touch] with me.

With Tottenham’s current coach not a seasoned managerial performer you would imagine he would be looking over his shoulder right now. But results are God in this industry so he surely just needs to keep winning.

This managerial instability leaves question marks over Tottenham’s current transfer policy. Surely a club of this size are already making enquiries about summer signings. But what role is Sherwood playing in player acquisition?

Two players have been linked to Tottenham today. Both flyers. Talksport reports today that Spurs are keen on Marseille winger Florian Thauvin:

Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham and Manchester United are all tracking the former Lille man, who only moved to the Stade Velodrome in the summer.

He has impressed right away, with six goals and three assists so far in Ligue 1 and scouts across Europe are watching.

Another player linked to Tottenham today is midfielder Rodrigo Gomez.

The Guardian quickly states:

With Tottenham umming and ahhing over giving Younes Kaboul a new contract, Fiorentina plan to swoop in and nab the 28-year-old defender. Tottenham will console themselves by signing Argentinos midfielder Rodrigo Gómez for £3m.

Meanwhile The Mirror reports:

Spurs are also watching Argentinos Juniors midfielder Rodrigo Gomez, who is valued at around £3million.

Let’s see the lad in action. Tottenham fans, Sherwood or van Gaal? And do you like the look of Gomez?
