Tottenham linked with an absolute genius

It’s difficult to know what the next twelve months is going to look like for Tottenham. If Tim Sherwood manages to steer his team into fourth position come May then all bets are off about potential new managers. Surely Sherwood will be given the reigns at Tottenham for another season.

The fact is he’s got certain players performing out of their skin and he’s got Tottenham winning. Ok, it looks a bit scruffy at times, but surely the wins are what matter at this point of the season. How many times have we seen Tottenham played beautifully down the years and come away with no points?

If Sherwood doesn’t reach the top four then perhaps someone like Louis van Gaal will come into the club and start from scratch yet again.

Whatever happens Tottenham should definitely pursue Angel Di Maria. He has been linked more than once to Spurs and The Guardian today tussles with the idea of Di Maria making that move in the summer.

Khedira is one of several players Real Madrid would like to get gone – others are Iker Casillas, who interests Arsenal, and Ángel di María, who might be forced to Spurs.

Forced or not, the mooted idea is that he could replace, the either shockingly inept or horrifically under-valued Erik Lamela, who may well be shipped out this summer.

The obvious difference between the two is experience. We think that Lamela looks like a top talent but doesn’t yet have the sort of nous that Di Maria has picked up with Argentina and with Real Madrid in La Liga and The Champions League. As we saw with Manchester City against Barcelona on Tuesday you simply can’t buy experience.

The Di Maria leaving Madrid rumours have persisted for too long to be hollow. We think that he will make a move this summer and Tottenham could be among many suitors for his signature.
