This one has been simmering for a while and The Daily Star writes that Chelsea have now tabled a £30m for Shaktar Donetsh playmaker Alex Teixeira. They say:
Shakhtar are reportedly keen to keep hold of their star man until the end of the season but Chelsea are hoping a £30m bid will force them to change their mind.
Regardless of the verity of these reports Chelsea’s interest in the player does seem genuine and the succession of Guus Hiddink possibly hasn’t dampened that.
Teixeira said in late November:
‘My agent said that Chelsea, Juventus and PSG have made proposals, but Chelsea and Juventus are deeper in negotiations. They are three big clubs. Wherever I go, I’ll be happy,’
Born in Brazil in 1990 the diminutive 26 year old, who stands at 5ft 8in, played for the Vasco da Gama first team for just two seasons from 2008, before being snapped up by Shaktar in 2009.
Teixeira has been an increasingly prominent and productive member of the squad with goals and assists galore. His tally at the club stands at 89 in 222 games – a remarkable record for a player who isn’t a conventional number 9.
This season has been his most prolific with a sensational 26 goals in just 25 games for his club, seemingly prompting Chelsea’s interest.
We feel that this deal has a very good chance of going through this month as Chelsea look for more teeth in attack.
Let’s see the superstar in action.
