PSV: Zoet, Moreno, Arias, Bruma, Brenet, Hendrix, Pröpper, Guardado, De Jong, Narsingh, Locadia.

The optimistic view of the status quo at Manchester United is that they are steadily improving.

Sometimes the progress is almost undetectable and, but for an injury time winner in Manchester United’s last game against Watford, the pressure would be right back on Louis van Gaal.

What United need to do now is to evolve from just being solid. They are indeed very hard to beat now. But they require much more fluency and ruthlessness up top. Because, currently, the sum of United’s attacking parts is far greater than the whole.

Wayne Rooney is starting to show signs of a return to form and Memphis too ran the show in his last outing.

And it’s a must win game for Manchester United with PSV and Wolfsburg breathing down their necks in group B.

Anything other than a home win will leave the nerves shredded ahead of a difficult away trip to Germany in the final group games.

Manchester United need to record a comfortable win tonight to ensure that their head to head record vs PSV is favourable – the reverse fixture finished 2-1 to the Dutch side.
