Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has acquired a pleasing amount of young talent since he joined the club, to uphold the traditions of previous, great managers like Sirs Alex and Matt.

And another has been linked by the tabloid media in the latest news cycle.

The Daily Star says:

Premier League rivals join Man Utd and Liverpool in the race for Leeds ace

The ace in question is 18 year old midfielder Lewis Cook. He’s already been capped 6 times for England U21s and it’s easy to see why. Because Cook has great technique and composure for one so young.

At just 18 he already has a full season under his belt having played 38 times for his club in The Championship last season.

This year he is a first choice selection and had already played 14 times.

Manchester United have an aged midfield (Carrick 34, Schweinsteiger 31) and they will surely look to address this in the coming months and years. Lewis Cook would surely have to develop before expecting a place in the Manchester United side and we expect him to go back out on loan if he does sign.

But he is an impressive young player with the world at his feet and his club may find it increasingly difficult to hold on to him with the sort of performances that he is putting in at such a tender age.

Let’s see some of his better moments.
