There are only a small handful of 31 year old players that Manchester United would consider investing huge money in and one of them is surely Arjen Robben.
The Dutch winger has returned from injury to hit three goals in two games but he is said to be unhappy at Bayern after falling out with star striker Robert Lewandowski.
The Mirror reports:
Manchester United ready to rescue Arjen Robben from Bayern Munich as they step up winger hunt
The Bayern wide man is said to be unhappy at the German champions and could be set for a reunion with his former Holland boss
The Dutch winger, who proved he is now back to his best after being sidelined for two months by a torn stomach muscle by scoring twice in Holland’s 3-2 win over Wales in Cardiff on Friday night, is at war with Bayern striker Robert Lewandowski.
Robben is from the very top drawer of football talent. A player who can twist the blood of the opponent like few others.
At 31 he has won everything in Germany and has a Champions League medal with Bayern Munchen.
He has had a few injuries in his time but his fitness record is far better now than when he was at Chelsea.
Even at his age he would offer the sort of pace and penetration that this Manchester United side is still short of.
Robin, who has cost clubs 72.9m Euros in transfer fees (€3.9m PSV, €25m for Real Madrid, €24m Bayern Munchen and €18m Chelsea) scored two gals against Wales at the weekend to illustrate that his goal scoring prowess is undiminished despite his veteran status.
He would cost a fortune in wages but we think that he would be worth every penny.
Let’s see him in action.
Manchester United fans: keen?
