Manchester United have been linked with a big money move for Porto winger Yacine Brahimi.

The 25 year old only moved to Porto last summer, for a transfer fee of 6.5m Euros. But such has been his form – he has scored 12 goals in 43 games over a season and a bit – that he has been the subject of regular transfer talk.

The Manchester Evening News reports:

Manchester United are reportedly eyeing Porto’s Algerian international Yacine Brahimi.

Louis Van Gaal has identified a need for speed in his Reds ranks and sent scouts to watch the 25-year-old in action against Vitoria Setubal, according to Portuguese newspaper Record.

He’s quick, direct and can leave a man for dead. Plus he has that aforementioned goal threat and a work ethic that makes him stand out even when he’s not at his best.

This one is potentially very interesting for Manchester United fans.

From the moment Louis van Gaal uttered the words ‘speedy wingers‘ the sports pages went mad with speculation about who he had in mind.

But the Anthony Martial transfer in the summer wasn’t picked up by a single newspaper until hours before it happened so perhaps we should take this one with a pinch of salt.

But he looks gettable and has become central to the Algeria national team since he scored his first goal for them at The World Cup in Brazil.

Let’s see him in action.

Manchester United fans: would this be a suitable speedy winger for the first XI?
