Chelsea are in all sorts of trouble and you have to assume that a club this wealthy will try to spend their way pout of trouble in January.
Already more than a dozen points off the Champions League places they have a huge amount of ground to make up and they will surely require more teeth up top for the second half of the season.
Their current roster of forwards simply aren’t performing to their capabilities right now and latest reports suggest that Chelsea may go for a surprise quick fix. ESPN reckons:
Chelsea are planning to sign a new striker in January to try and solve their goal-scoring problems, sources have told ESPN FC, with Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez and Paco Alcacer potential targets.
Any fan of The Premier League will have good knowledge of Chicharito. He moved to Manchester United in 2010 and hit the ground running with 20 goals in his first season at the club.
But his form waned somewhat and the change of manager at United ultimately spelled the end for Chicharito at Old Trafford.
But he scored in his sixth successive game for Leverkusen at the weekend and has been on fire since moving to Germany permanently in the summer.
He’s a fox in the box with great pace and a player who will always score goals.
As for Paco Alcacer, the 22 year old Valencia striker has 5 goals in 15 games for his club this season and a remarkable 6 in 10 for Spain.
Let’s see him in action.
