Many to most observers were fully expecting Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal to buy a centre back in the summer.
As it turns out Manchester United have the meanest defence in the league and the back five seems like the least of his worries.
But reports today suggest that United will be in the market for another Italian stopper in January.
Sky Sports passes on news from Italy:
Manchester United will aim to beat Arsenal in the race to sign Juventus defender Daniele Rugani in January, according to Tuttosport.
As well as Arsenal, Fiorentina and Sampdoria are said to be interested in signing a player who has only played for two minutes for Juventus in the first team this season.
But the report suggests that Manchester United could land the 21 year old 6ft 2in centre back who looks set for a big future in the game.
With Marcos Rojo, Paddy McNair and Phil Jones also able to cover for Daley Blind and Chris Smalling, United look pretty well covered in the heart of the defence right now, but we shall keep you posted on this potential move.
Let’s see him in action.
