Full Of Goals: Manchester United’s Best Front 4

Pace

Louis van Gaal’s have been solid this season and, without wishing to tempt fate for Manchester United fans, they do at least look unlikely to take many more hidings this season.

But we all know Manchester United as a great attacking force and, at times, it feels as if the offence has actually gone backwards since Louis took the job.

Their play this season, in particular, has been marked by slow and cautious build up play where they ultimately pin the opponent back to the 18 yard line and attempt to pick their way through the final few yards of utter congestion.

Very rarely do you see Manchester United spring the offside trap or get forward quickly enough that they have loads of space to run into.

But we feel that Louis may be about to stumble upon his best attacking line up.

Part of the problem is Juan Mata. He’s good but not great. And he slows down the play.

Mata - Not the answer

Mata – Not the answer

United need a fast right winger who will hug the touchline and ping balls in all afternoon.

Lingard did it for Rooney’s goal on Tuesday and he has shown enough to suggest that he can represent an upgrade on the right.

And Memphis needs to be reinstated on the left flank.

He has taken time to adapt but he needs the confidence that game time will bring and we think that, regardless of form, he is still comfortably one of the best forwards that United have.

With Memphis and Lingard either side of Anthony Martial Manchester United will once more have serious pace up top.

And with Wayne Rooney improving he can orchestrate attacks form his number 10 position.

All in all, we strongly believe that this line up would have the greatest attacking threat and get Manchester United back amongst the goals.
