Wake Up Spurs

We have always applauded the style of Tottenham head coach Mauricio Pochettino and his summer cull of deadwood was another excellent move.

But, beyond the signing of the excellent Toby Alderweireld, the arrivals have been arguably curious.

Tottenham obviously needed to bring in more strength in depth up top but it would be fascinating to know how far up the list of ideal signings that Clinton N’Jie (£12.2m) and Son Heung-min (£22m) were.

They are both quick players and both technically good but, after a stuttering start to the campaign, Tottenham need these guys to shine almost instantly.

Both are strikers but both are comfortable operating wide and this is exactly where we would ideally station them this weekend if Eriksen is fit.

The Dane could be fit for the game as Pochettino stated yesterday:

“We hope there is no effect and hope to do better this season. We can also recall players like (Ryan) Mason, (Mousa) Dembele and (Christian) Eriksen.

At 22 and 23 they still have much to learn but also have decent experience – Son Heung-min already has 45 caps for his country and N’Jie 6 goals for Cameroon.

If Eriksen misses out we would put Son Heung-min in the hole with Chadli out wide. But hopefully Eriksen can recover so that Tottenham can try out this new front line.

With Alderweireld, Tottenham should be more solid at the back than they have in a long time.

The midfield is capable.

They just need their attack to click and hopefully we will see an exciting new strike force unveiled this weekend – because Tottenham need more teeth in front of goal.

Here is our strongest Tottenham XI for the game against Crystal Palace at White Hart Lane on Sunday afternoon (kick off 1330 local time).
