4-2-3-1: Tottenham’s Best XI vs Everton with two new signings and the youngster starting

Always a big game

3 games and 3 goals scored tells you that Tottenham aren’t firing up top.

They aren’t alone, with a lot of the bigger clubs failing to find the net anywhere near as regularly as they would like in the early throes of the season.

But Tottenham have options at hand.

They spent £10m plus add ons for Clinton N’Jie and we simply can’t stand it when players are signed for these sorts of fees and then left to rot on the bench.

Harry Kane clearly needs some help and so we would throw N’Jie in there from the start against a quickly improving Everton – give them some pace to think about.

Because, at the moment, Tottenham look a bit pedestrian.

Dele Alli still looks raw at just 19 but he is also intrepid and hit the net against Leicester. So he merits a start.

Meanwhile Nacer Chadli and Erik Lamela just aren’t doing enough.

So we are opting for an unconventional 4-2-1-3 with two defensive midfielders providing the foundation for Eriksen (who should return form injury) to wave his wand and supply the forward line of N’jie, Kane and Alli.

We think that the bravest coaches try different things – especially when things aren’t going too well.

So here is an alternative Tottenham XI which we think could trouble Everton.

Tottenham fans: let’s have your teams for the last game before the international break.

Nice line up but there is still one culprit left in there. Let’s make the changes completely radical and root out Vertonghen and put in Wimmer. After all, why did we buy him. I would like to see this line up start.

Unlikely to happen of course. Orders from upstairs to play certain players before the transfer window closes …

Kevin Wimmer must start instead of Jan Vertonghen! Vertonghen just isn’t playing well and Wimmer gives Spurs much more physicality and leadership at the back. Wimmer is still naturally left sided and cultured on the ball but will be much more effective against the power of Lukaku.

Kevin Wimmer has to start! He is much more physical than Jan and is a natural leader at the back. Him and Toby would be awesome together.

Apart from replacing Vertonghen with Wimmer, I prefer Dier or Mason to Bentaleb.

And why did you put Hospital Ball Bentaleb in the line up, just shows you are clueless.
