PICTURE: Manchester United’s Best XI vs Newcastle – new midfield

Big Game

Manchester United have started the season well in terms of results.

The performances haven’t been that amazing but only Manchester City have really hit the gourd running in that respect.

What we are seeing this season is a much more solid looking Manchester United outfit.

This Manchester United, with the energy of Schneiderlin, the commanding presence of Schweinsteiger and the excellent addition of Matteo Darmian, is extremely hard to break down and we can’t see them conceding too many goals this season.

The problem, at this stage, is going forward.

Against Premier League sides we wonder whether there is enough pace and power in attack to really have a title tilt.

The addition of Pedro would haven given Manchester United balance going forwards but that deal is seemingly off the table and if Louis can sign Sadio Mane it will represent a far better investment. This lad is pure gold.

Juan Mata deserves a run at number 10. With energetic wingers either side of him he could run things from the hole behind Wayne Rooney and make everything click.

If he is not doing the business then Manchester United can instead use Herrera at number 10 but at least keep the same template.

For our money Manchester United need 2 more wingers before the window closes.

If they can get Mane and one other they will be in great shape.

For now, here is our best XI for the game against Newcastle (Kick off 12:45 local time, Saturday 22nd August)

    Or maybe:

    Rooney Depay
    Young Mata Herrera Januzaj
    Shaw Blind Smalling Darmian
    De Gea

Then sub the worst playing midfielder in the third for schneiderlin if we are winning, or schweinsteiger if we are losing/drawing.

Hi guys like your lines up. Here is a line up with a ‘lemon twist’. If Rooney fails to produce this week vs. Newcastle then here is my line for Brugge next week

    Either a 4-3-3

    Depay, Januzaj, Mata
    Schneiderlin, Herrera (Fellaini), Schweinsteiger
    Shaw Blind Smalling Darmian
    De Gea

    or

    4-2-3-1

    Januzaj,
    Depay, Fellaini (Herrera), Mata
    Schneiderlin, Schweinsteiger
    Shaw, Blind, Smalling, Darmian
    De Gea

Either/ Or I think that this team would be the most productive, for the time being, that Man- U could put on the field of play!

    Regards, Drew
