Big Player

What a performance.

If Memphis was quiet on his home debut against Tottenham last weekend, and somewhat muted against Aston Villa a few days later, this was the game when he introduced himself on the world stage.

Manchester United were facing European minnows but anyone who watched the game will know that they are a decent and resolute team who pass the ball well.

They were tough to break down and it took the brilliance Manchester United’s new hero Memphis to break the deadlock.

And the newspapers were full of praise for a player who has all the promise of a young Cristiano Ronaldo.

We believe that this lad has everything.

He’s lightning fast, strong as an ox and has a vicious shot on him.

But he also has incredibly quick feet and great ball control.

For our money, and without meaning to be cynical, Manchester United’s only propbem is going to be how to keep him out of the clutches of Real Madrid, who clearly see United as little more than feeder team for their first eleven.

Memphis has all the quality to succeed Cristiano Ronaldo himself and with the Portuguese now in his 30s it may not be too long before the Spanish giants are knocking on Manchester United’s door once more.

But, for now, let’s enjoy the brilliance of Manchester United’s new hero by seeing those goals again.
