Manchester United have received good news in their reported pursuit of Barcelona forward Pedro.
The player was widely expected to play for Barcelona in the Super Cup against Sevilla on Tuesday evening but was left on the bench.
And Barcelona technical secretary, Robert Fernández, told reporters this evening that the Spain international wants to leave the club where he has spent his entire career. He said:
“Pedro asked us for the transfer,” he said. “We are not going to accept less than €30m for him, it’s not negotiable.”
Manchester United are on the look out for more attacking talent, especially after a lack lustre start to their campaign against Tottenham on Saturday.
And Pedro has been strongly linked with Manchester United for most of the summer, without an official bid being made.
The feeling was that Angel di Maria’s departure from United would speed up the process, and this latest news will surely lead to a bid from Manchester United – unless, of course, all the speculation was just that.
But the situation is now very clear for Manchester United. Barcelona want 30M Euros for the player and Pedro wants to leave the club.
So this one should come to a head in the next few days. Although it would be unrealistic to think that he will be at the club in time for the game against Aston Villa on Friday night.
We shall keep you posted on this one.
