When we first looked at the fixture list we thought that The Premier League had introduced Friday night football.
You would have to imagine that it won’t be long before it does happen on a regular basis, in order to further massage TV viewing figures.
But the actual reason for United’s Friday night fixture against Aston Villa this week is that they have a crucial encounter with Brugge in The Champions League qualifying round at Old Trafford next Tuesday. Thankfully, The Premier League has agreed that it benefits everyone to give United an extra day of preparation for Europe.
So, after a drab yet priceless win against Tottenham, how will Manchester United approach this game?
They will want to improve their general rhythm and it was silly to think that, with 5 new signings, that would come straight away.
Basti will be that much fitter for his 30 minute cameo against Spurs. But we assume that he will be eased in over time so expect the very capable Carrick and Schneiderlin to once more anchor the midfield. Manchester United are immeasurably stronger in the engine room this season.
The back 5 will remain the same but, when match fit, we would like to see Rojo come in for Blind.
So it’s the forward line that is most in need of a tweak for our money.
Depay will of course get better but we think it makes much more sense to play him out wide – either flank will do – so that he has some green grass to exploit behind the opposition defence. The fact that Villa are at home means that they should be pressing a bit higher up the park. So Depay would get lots of space on the flank if positioned there.
Mata could play in the hole and Louis can continue with Young on the left until reinforcements are found. We would again call for the introduction of Pereira at some stage in this game as he has the spritely guile that Young lacks.
But here is our XI for what should be an open game against Aston Villa. A win will send United 5 points clear of Chelsea, who face a daunting game against Manchester City this weekend.

That is more a team for me, with Herrera roaming the park and feeding balls through.
The 4-3-3 system works well but i dont know whats up with LVG changing the system all the time and with Pedro coming into the team , who is he going to drop ? MATA or Herrar !!!

LVG has a strong team, but the thing of. Changing formation,will make his job difficult,how many midfielders does he want?we need a natural CB and a striker,but because he wants us to see that he knows what is doing, is the reason why the team came no 4 last season.

LVG, the game against spurs we didn’t look that pacey in the middle. Mogan & Carrick are more of a defensive like player, if you split in Herrera that what be the most dynamic midfield since the 90’s. Whiles playing Memphis n Pereira on the wings, Mata to slow. Plz try it, we have a gr8 side this season, we just have to play the right players in the right position. Champion League here we come.
