If the hefty weight of rumour is to be believed then Tottenham will be bringing in another midfielder or two this summer, having offloaded Paulinho and Etienne Capoue already in this window.
We reported earlier in the week on how Tottenham might acquire the services of Jordan Veretout. The talented Nantes midfielder, 22, has been increasingly effective at the French club and got 7 goals and 5 assists in 40 games last season.
But The Times reports that he may well be on his way to Aston Villa in a deal worth around £7m. They say:
Nantes’ Jordan Veretout set to complete Aston Villa move
But the positive news is that the same club are still trying to take Emmanuel Adebayor off their hands.
Villa also hope to bring in Emmanuel Adebayor.
It may only be a loan deal for now but Aston Villa would at least be expected to pay the big wages of the lad and this will free up the cash required for Tottenham to bring in a player who can have a real long-term impact at the club.
With the defence looking much stronger, after the signings of Kieran Trippier and Toby Alderweireld, we think that the focus will now be on another anchor man and a striker/forward.
So much of the selling has been done and Spurs can look forward to some exciting additions. Sadly for some, Veretout doesn’t look as if he will be on that list.

Our recruitment team have got worse since Baldini and Mitchel have come in, great at getting rid of people but when it comes to signing someone they haven’t got a clue.
