Report: Manchester United in negotiations to sign forward, player wants to leave

Louis van Gaal gave Manchester United fans the news they wanted to hear this week when he stated that Manchester United are in the market for attacking players with creativity and vision.

In this fascinating interview he name checked game changers of the highest order – Hazard, Messi, Ronaldo and Neymar to mention but a few.

Whether Barcelona star Pedro fits into that category is the subject for debate. But he would certainly improve the first team squad with his guile and finesse.

And Marca reports that Manchester United remain in discussions to sign the player this summer. They say:

Manchester United are after Pedro. They’ve entered negotiations for the Spaniard at €25 million, a sum that the English club hopes won’t rise by much, since they are not willing to spend any more than a total of €32 million for Spaniard including all add-ons.

Pedro wants to leave the ‘Azulgranas’ to get more playing time, and Manchester looks like an ideal location for him,

At 27 Pedro doesn’t have the pace of most of the players mentioned by Van Gaal. And this is perhaps what sets the very top players apart from the very good ones in the modern game.

But Pedro is a clever and precise footballer.

Unlike Angel di Maria, he rarely wastes the ball and has the sort of technique that compares with anyone in Europe.

He isn’t a swashbuckling forward – more of an artist who plays the game with great technique and intelligence.

He speeds up play with the one touch precision and the genunie vision that he brings to the game.

In summary we aren’t sure whether Pedro can make Manchester United into European champions.

He is perhaps just part of the solution.

But he would be an excellent player to add to the squad and, as things stand, he would get into the team ahead of Ashley Young or Juan Mata.
