Louis van Gaal has spoken this week about his need for a player with creativity and vision to add to his squad.
He does of course have one of those in Angel di Maria. But, unfortunately, the player wants to leave Manchester United.
LvG isn’t scared to make a hard bargain when the opportunity to snare a top player arises.
We saw that this summer with Sergio Ramos where the Manchester United manager reportedly told Real Madrid that he wasn’t prepared to sell David de Gea unless Sergio Ramos came the other way.
So how about doing the same with Angel di Maria and the brilliant Brazilian Lucas Moura?
Moura nearly joined Manchester United in 2012 but PSG eventually signed him by blowing The Reds out of the water on the price, which was said to be in the region of 45m Euros.
He started his career slowly but has found his feet and now offers exactly the sort of pace, penetration and world class service that Louis van Gaal and Manchester United are after.
Moura has amazingly quick feet, guile and end product. He scored 8 goals in 45 games for PSG last season and, at 22, he has so much more improvement to come.
There is no suggestion yet in the media that this deal could happen but we believe that Moura is one of the few players in the world of football that ticks all of the boxes in terms of what Manchester United currently need.
Louis van Gaal doesn’t want to let go of Di Maria and, if he is forced to, then he should at least try to strengthen his own side at the same time and test PSG’s desire to bring the Argentine to the club. United don’t need the money. They need top quality players.
With such a dearth of top class talent out there for the wide areas Manchester United could do a lot worse than to pursue a deal for the brilliant Moura, three years after he moved from Brazil.

For me l’d have allowed D Maria to stay at Man U, l he’d have improved this season. If he finally leaves we should replace him with a player as good as he is.
