Highly respected source: Manchester United pursuing deal for 27 year old South American

Manchester United’s transfer business for the summer has suddenly come into sharp focus.

There will of course be new speculation as the summer progresses.

But, at this point in time, it seems that Manchester United are seriously trying to sign Matteo Darmian, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Morgan Schneiderlin and a centre back.

The Ramos link isn’t new. But it appears that Manchester United are pursuing their interest in another, excellent defensive investment. According to The Times:

United are continuing to pursue other players, including Nicolas Otamendi

We think that Otamendi would be a fantastic buy for Manchester United. He’s considerably younger than Ramos, at 27, and he would surely form a superb central defensive partnership with his Argentinian team mate Marcos Rojo.

He’s played 25 times for Argentina and, after a slow start to his international career, he has become a regular in the last year. He also had a fantastic season at club level with 6 goals in 38 games for Valencia in La Liga.

His strength and pace means that he is unlikely to have major problems in assimilating into The Premier League.

Otamendi - A good player. But £36m? Stop pulling my chain

There is always the chance that Manchester United will attempt to sign both Otamendi and Ramos.

They would surely form a great partnership at the back. But the cost of bringing both to the club would possibly leave little left in the kitty for other reinforcements.

And with the future of David de Gea still in major doubt, the club may have to fork out for another keeper before too long.

Let’s see Otamendi in action. Manchester United fans: a great solution?
