Solid as a rock

After all the hype things are starting to heat up for Manchester United in the transfer market.

Anyone who reads soccersweep on a reg will know that we have been anti-Ramos to Manchester United since the word go. We don’t doubt his overall quality but the figures being discussed in relation to a 29 year old makes a mockery of the game. Manchester United would be fools to sign a player who could be on the wane in a year and arguably still has his heart in Madrid.

For those who agree there is potentially good news today as SkyBet have shortened the odds on Nicolas Otamendi to Manchester United after getting big bets on the move. Sky Sports reveals:

Manchester United’s search for defenders looks set to continue, Sky Bet have reported large bets on Nicolas Otamendi signing.

The Argentinian centre-back, who was named in the Copa America team of the tournament, is 6/4 from 5/2 to sign for Louis van Gaal’s side after a number of bets.

We really like this lad and feel that he could form a rock solid central defence with the impressive and ever improving Marcos Rojo – his fellow Argentinian.

At 27 Otamendi is no spring chicken either but Manchester United fans could at least expect to see him have a long and successful career at Manchester United as he comes into his peak. He’s no nonsense, hard as nails and would scare the life out of most grandmas – he’s the perfect successor to Nemanja Vidic.

He’s slowly become a regular in the Argentina national side and now has 25 caps to his name. And he had a sensational debut season for Valencia playing 38 games and scoring 6 goals.

Let’s take a look at the lad in action. Manchester United fans: a much more sensible signing than Ramos?
