Manchester United tend not to do quick transfers. Possibly due to the size of the club, there is so much speculation surrounding any transfer move, that it is almost impossible to get it done quickly and quietly.
To that end, we have known about the potential move of Morgan Schneiderlin to Manchester United for some time.
Ideally the club would have got this and other deals over the line earlier this summer but it hasn’t happened that way. Nevertheless, Manchester United remain hopeful that they can conclude this deal before they jet off to America for their preseason tour next Monday.
The Guardian says that there is still a sizeable difference between the valuations of Manchester United and Southampton but that there is still optimism that a deal can be done this week. They say:
Manchester United are hopeful of landing Southampton’s Morgan Schneiderlin before flying to the United States on Monday to start their summer tour as the Saints manager, Ronald Koeman, is keen to replace the midfielder as soon as possible.
Louis van Gaal, the United manager, has had one bid of around £20m rejected by the St Mary’s club, with Koeman valuing Schneiderlin at £27m. However, United believe the player could be acquired for closer to £25m.
Of all the signings that Manchester United could do this summer we feel that this will be one of the most important. Manchester United were too easy to break down last season, when Michael Carrick wasn’t fit, and Schneiderlin is almost a like for like replacement.
At 25 he’s got years left in the tank and is a regular with the France international side. He’s quick, dilligent and has a great passing range. We love the look of this lad and the sooner Manchester United get the deal over the line, the better.
Let’s have look at him in action. Manchester United fans: a must buy?
