Dead wood. Too much for too long. Get rid.
We never fancied Tim Sherwood for the Tottenham job. And don’t get us started on AVB.
But Mauricio Pochettino? Now there is a proper manager.
And, rather refreshingly, he’s been streamlining the squad before he adds to it this summer. Tottenham have always had such a big player roster and sometimes not always a particularly efficient one.
Currently they have players like Adebayor and Soldado costing hundreds of thousands in wages per week with no real return. Hopefully Mo Po can shift those two this summer also.
But the good news is that one more player has left the club. This time it’s Etienne Capoue. He started his career in a very promising fashion and many were waxing lyrical about the investment.
But injury soon stunted his progress and he has never really recovered. Watford have signed him up for a club record fee:
The 26 year old has been capped 7 times by the France national side but only played 36 times for Tottenham since he joined the club in 2013. He’s a talented lad but we think it’s right to get rid.
Hopefully the Spurs boss can now go out and sign one more top midfielder to complement the talents of the excellent Nabil Bentaleb, Ryan Mason and, if he stays, Mousa Dembele.
Tottenham fans: sad to see Etienne depart or is it a good deal for the club?
