Louis van Gaal is well known for his boldness where it comes to bringing young players into the fold.

During The World Cup in Brazil he brought players like Bruno Martins Indi, Stefan de Vrij and, most notably, a 19 year old Memphis Depay into the team on the biggest stage of all, with great results as the fearlessness of youth carried Holland into the semi-finals.

At Manchester United he has done the same with the likes of Paddy McNair and Tyler Blackett, also with positive results.

And, with the current form of young maestro Andreas Pereira, perhaps he will save the club millions this summer and instead blood the brilliant attacking midfielder come autumn.

Manchester United were strongly linked with a move for Roberto Firmino over the last couple of weeks. He has now joined Liverpool. But, if Manchester United had really wanted him then wouldn’t the Brazilian have chosen the club in The Champions League instead?

While Manchester United will invest heavily this summer, perhaps they are leaving their attacking midfield options open as the form of Pereira demands more opportunity. He made the bench for the first team last season but will hope to kick on imminently. Team mate Maruoane Fellaini recently said of him:

‘Andreas is a big talent,’ Fellaini told United Review.

‘I think the club did everything to sign him up to a contract because a lot of teams wanted him.

‘He has to continue like that, to work hard and to keep going and try to win his place.’

Pereira scored a superb solo goal in the final of the U20 World Cup for Brazil against Serbia and his form can’t go unnoticed for too much longer before he starts knocking on the door for first team action.

Like Firmino, Pereira never stops moving and makes things happen by floating between the lines of the opposition midfield and defence. He also scores goals and probably has even more individual skill than his fellow countryman.

We wouldn’t be at all surprised if the kid, who turns 20 on New Years Day, goes on to save the club millions over the next couple of years.

Let’s see that wonder strike against Serbia as well as an all round superb performance where he hardly put a foot wrong after coming off the bench. Manchester Untied fans: is Pereira good enough for first team action?

If United bought Firmino, you would say that he is the best talent in the world and he will be the next big thing and blah blah blah. Now that he joined Liverpool all you can say that if you wanted him,you would have him. What if the player wants to play for Liverpool?what if he is good friends with Coutinho and Leiva?Being in the Champions League doesnt mean that all players want to join your team. And by the way i am not a Liverpool fan,i support Aston Villa and i hate Man United.

LOL. He said surely he would have chosen the club n the champions league, nothing to do with the fact the “interested” clubs were Man U and Liverpool. However, this story is about Pereira and how good he is, NOT Ferminho, and that makes for a valid point on why Man U don’t need another winger or on the side of a front 3 unless he is already world class like say Ronaldo or Messi. I think in fact that if this was the focus of the article, then it would also suggest that with Januzai, Depay, Di Maria and Mata also able to play there, then a United bid for a player that at the moment has less talent than these 5 would really not make any sense. But this story is about Peraira, not wether United bid for Firminho or Gaitan or Ronaldo or Bale or Messi or Higuian or Swinesteiger or Mandjukic or Ramos or Otamendi or Clyne or Varane or Bacca or Lloris or Sterling or Modric or Coleman or Begovic or any of the other 30. You see the point? Ferminho just happens to be the most recent player Man U have been linked with that plays in the same position as Pereira

Anyone who chooses a team that finishes outside of the champions League every year obviously has no abition. It’s clear his agent was using united to get his client a better deal. By the way Villa are garbage

United signed six players last summer and they wern’t in the CL so does that mean they had litte ambition when joining UNited? Fact is we would be singing and praising if Firmino joined United. He’s a decent footballer but I’ve a sneaking feeling Liverpool overpaid for him out of desperation.

The question was is Pereira good enough for the 1st team? I say play him and find out. Why are so many clubs so gunho about spending money and not giving youth a chance. That’s how United lost Pogba. Also give Wilson and Lingaard a run, England need more young players coming through. I would like to know if United did bid for Firminio or was it a ruse to push up his price. Still he looks a good signing for Liverpool

This article’s focus I can see it’s on Pereira and not Ferminho. Besides, Manchester United have world class attacking midfielders who fights for starting shirt week-in-week-out. So why waste such a fortune on a player whose name was never heard of until he’s being linked with Man United?. Don’t forget Di Maria isn’t starting, Mata is being played out of position just to accommodate him, Januzaj always on Bench, Young, Fellaini, among others are all but attacking midfielders. Don’t forget Nani with his talent will not be anywhere near the first team. I do not think United need him. The story was all cooked up and United were used by his agent to get him better offer from a very DESPERATE team, who is about to lose Sterling!. His agent did a great job anywayz and I wish him well in England. United haters should hug electric transformer!. Glory Glory Man United!.
