Smart signings: Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal in bids for world class talent according to reports

Anderson: A special talent

Midfield maestro

Manchester United may well still go for the A-list options in the transfer market this summer. But players like Raheem Sterling, Paul Pogba and Gareth Bale, will take time and huge amounts of money to pursue, with no guarantee of successful conclusions to the deals.

The smart move might be to look elsewhere, for players who can become world stars of the future.

For our money there are three obvious ones kicking about right now – Aymeric Laporte, Geoffrey Kondogbia and Felipe Anderson.

Reports this week have linked the latter with a move to Manchester United. The 22 year old has many of the same qualities of the more celebrated Pogba, but he would probably cost less than half the price. While he may not have quite the range of skill, particularly in the defensive department, he’s even quicker than the Frenchman and scores more goals – 10 in 45 games so far for Lazio.

The Star reports that he and Holland star Stefan de Vrij are on the radar at Manchester United:

Reports in Italy have linked Old Trafford chief Louis van Gaal with bids for defender Stefan de Vrij and midfield ace Felipe Anderson.

There was a lot of speculation about De Vrij before he made the move to Italy last summer. He’s had a great first season playing 35 times and scoring 4 goals from a starting position in the centre of defence.

As for Anderson, we think that he can become one of the best players in the world over the next few years and if Manchester United don’t snap him up now, then we are likely to see stories about £60m price tags in a year or so.

Let’s see Anderson in action. Manchester United fans: are you as keen on this lad as we are?
