De-Clyned? Manchester United target new defender

Big lad

We can’t understand for the life of us why Manchester United haven’t shaken hands on a deal for Nathaniel Clyne yet. He may still have some way to go in terms of becoming a complete defender. But, for our money, he has all the qualities to succeed at Old Trafford. He’s quick, aggressive, buccaneering and has great confidence going forward.

But the trail seems to have gone cold on this one and you can’t imagine it will be too many more days until a deal is agreed with an elite club.

Reports today suggest that Manchester United have trained their sights elsewhere. The Metro reckons that United are looking to invest in another Monaco player:

Manchester United ‘prepare £10.2m bid for Monaco full-back Fabinho’

The 21 year old Brazilian is already a towering 6ft 2in who played 1 game for Real Madrid before joining Monaco, first on loan and then permanently.

He played 19 times for them last season and has also been selected for the Copa America squad, making his debut for Brazil in the warm up game against Mexico.

He looks like an interesting prospect but we doubt whether he has the experience to get straight into the first team at Manchester United. If the club is indeed keen it will more likely be as a back up to Antonio Valencia or another Manchester United signing.

Let’s see the lad in recent action. Manchester United fans: should the club be focused on signing Clyne instead?
