Hint

It’s really hotting up now in the summer market. On the day that Robin van Persie said that Manchester United will spend around £200m in the summer window France keeper Hugo Lloris also made some highly encouraging comments, as far as Reds’ fans are concerned.

The acrobatic keeper seemed to be showing a bit of leg when he said that he is monitoring the situation with David de Gea at Manchester United.

He is quoted a saying:

‘For the moment there is a goalkeeper at United and we are watchful of his situation. You have to keep a certain calm with all this.

‘If things should happen then they’ll happen naturally.’

‘I am still a Spurs player. I have a contract until 2019 and I have a lot of respect for the gaffer, the club and my team-mates, so I don’t want to speak about it.

‘For any player you need to play at the highest level to improve yourself to help your national team to improve. I think every player wants to play in the Champions League because it is the highest level. We work for that and I hope to play Champions League football again.

‘At the moment, De Gea is still Manchester United keeper so I have no need to talk about that.’

At 28 LLoris has proven himself beyond all doubt as a Premier League keeper. His club won’t let him go without a fight and are notorious for getting top whack for their players.

But Lloris does appear to fit the bill perfectly for Manchester United – he’s solid, competent, bold and spectacular – he would be one of the only signings between the sticks that would give Manchester United the feeling that they haven’t downgraded from David de Gea, who seems destined for a move to Real Madrid.

Let’s see the man in action. Manchester United fans: could you see Lloris in goal for United next season?
