Nani has been hanging around Old Trafford like an extravagant but seldom used fragrance for years. He started his career with real promise but has flattered to deceive for far too long and Manchester United’s sole aim with the lad this summer will surely be to offload him.

But latest reports suggest that his wages could be a stumbling block for interested parties. Nani must have the best agent in the world to have struck a deal with Manchester United for £100,000 a week just the season before last when he wasn’t even regular in the side.

But the sort of level of club that is interested in the star might not be able to afford him – The Daily Mail reckon that Roma is just such a party:

Roma are showing an interest in Manchester United winger Nani. The Portuguese can leave for around £10million but his wages of £100,000 a week are a sticking point.

At 28 the lad still has something to offer at the right price. He helped Manchester United to secure The Champions League in 2008 as his penalty hit the back of the net against Chelsea.

His form for Sporting Lisbon has suggested that he may finally be abel to deliver on a consistent basis. But his chances at Manchester United have surely gone.
