We don’t often go down The Metro route for our news references, but they have thrown up an interesting name in relation to Manchester United’s summer transfer activity, that is worth a closer look:
Manchester United ‘favourites to seal £21.3m Carlos Bacca transfer’
His two goals for Sevilla against Dnipro in The Europa League Final this week have once more thrust him into the spotlight. He’s had a great season scoring 28 in 53 games for his club.
We think that he has similarities to fellow Colombian Tino Asprilla. He’s lithe, intelligent and inventive on the ball. But he’s also a really calm finisher who should score goals wherever he goes – he’s banged them in for fun in 3 countries already.
Manchester United need more fire power and Bacca may turn out to be the target of the club’s affections this summer.
FINAL WORD: At 28 he represents a fully formed striker and Manchester United didn’t have the best of luck when they bought one of those last summer (see Radamel Falcao). We can’t help thinking that, while Louis demands success in the short term, a younger player with lots to prove would be a better fit for a Manchester United team that already has a number 9 in his prime in Wayne Rooney.
Let’s take a look at the lad in action. Manchester United fans: does Bacca boil your potatoes or would you sooner buy a young player with potential?
