PIC: A Manchester United XI had they kept the best Champions League Quarter Finalists

Devastating

It’s interesting to see that Manchester United had 7 old boys in the quarter finals of The Champions League – that is if you count Javier Hernandez, who hasn’t yet left the club permanently.

In Cristiano Ronaldo, Manchester United had one player who they couldn’t have held onto unless they had tied him up in a room in the depths of Old Trafford.

Other than that, most of the decisions were down to Manchester United, who thought it best to let the likes of Pique, Tevez, Berbatov, Evra and Pogba go.

But, had Manchester United held on to the best of these players the team would look mouthwatering. Indeed, you could argue that it’s a better side than the one which United are currently putting out.

On the left Patrice Evra has had a superb season at Juventus. Daley Blind and Luke Shaw have come into their own of late but, in terms of pure consistency, Patrice may have got the nod this season.

You could easily argue that Gerard Pique is a more accomplished player, better distributor, and a safer pair of hands than Manchester United’s Chris Smalling or Phil Jones.

In midfield it’s painful to see Paul Pogba playing so well at Juve when Manchester United are desperate for more dynamism in the middle.

And, up top, we would still find a place in the starting eleven for the brilliant Carlos Tevez, with Rooney in the hole behind. We feel that Tevez was the last player that Rooney really gelled with as a strike partnership at Manchester United.

Cristiano Ronaldo plays on the left with Di Maria on the right – what a team!
