What went Wrong? 7 Manchester United old boys in Champions League Quarter Finals

GOD

Top quality

With half a team of ex-Manchester United players taking part in The Champions League quarter finals this week (and another nailed on starter, Paul Pogba injured for the second leg), we look at whether United were right to let go of the lads.

Gerard Pique

Looked a tad slow for The Premier League but had a wonderful touch and great composure at Manchester United. Would have been a top servant but he wanted to move on with Vidic and Ferdinand ahead of him at the time.

VERDICT: Should have kept him

Dimitar Berbatov

He blew hot and cold at Manchester United, and still does.

VERDICT: Some decent memories but the right decision to sell

Patrice Evra

One of soccersweep’s favourite players. Had a marvellous 9 years at Manchester United but they have superb strength on the left now.

VERDICT: The right time to part ways

Carlos Tevez

Was great at Manchester United and should have played more. Got even better at City and Juve.

VERDICT: Should still be at United

Javier Hernandez

Isn’t technically an ex-Manchester United player but he will probably leave the club for good this summer. Scored a dramatic late winner against Atletico.

VERDICT: A wonderful professional but not good enough to start every week

Cristiano Ronaldo

CR7 - A beautiful freak of nature.

CR7 – A beautiful freak of nature.

God.

VERDICT: Manchester United had little choice but to sell

Paul Pogba

Don’t mention this guy if you are anywhere near Old Trafford

VERDICT: Should be the driving force in the current United team

Manchester United fans: Did the club make big transfer mistakes?
